Repeat Prescriptions

If a repeat prescription has been authorised by your Doctor you may order it by phoning, calling in, or writing to the surgery. Alternatively you can order repeat prescriptions on-line. Prescriptions will be available after 3.30pm on the day after your request was received. Please give the receptionist your computer number if possible. It is also now possible to arrange for your community pharmmacy to collect prescriptions on your behalf. This needs to be arranged by you, directly with your own pharmacy. Prescriptions must be collected and signed for, either personally, or by a pharmacy on your behalf.

If your request is made on line, after the surgery is closed, this will only be dealt with on the next working day and will only be available for collection the day after that.

If you have any questions or concerns about your repeat prescriptions, please raise these with during any GP appointment or feel free to make an appointment for this purpose. Alternatively, you can ask a receptionist to pass on any specific question on your behalf.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
